Discover the region ski touring

The Morzine-Avoriaz area offers many possibilities for ski touring. For a discovery or initiation, explore the surrounding peaks such as Nantaux, Bostan or Chalune and some less traditional routes. We can take you into the forest or more alpine areas to ski large valleys or find untracked couloirs. Another advantage of the area is its topography which allows skiing on all slope orientations, enabling the guide to choose the best snow conditions and allowing the vertical gain to be adapted to the fitness of the group. Novice or experienced ski tourer, we have something for you!

The best spots in the region

Many locals in Morzine and Avoriaz regularly ski tour. Early in the morning before work, late at night or on days off, climbing the surrounding peaks and earning their turns. Easy when you know where, less easy when you are passing through… The Morzine-Avoriaz guides will be delighted to help you discover these spots and will know to choose which summit is suitable for you and above all the best route to take in relation to the conditions on the day! Setting out for Bostan on a windy day with “cardboard snow” would not be a good memory…!

Couloirs and alpine outings

Dents du Midi, tour of the Dents Blanches, the Bostan or Chalune couloirs… there are many major routes departing from the Morzine or Abondance valleys. These outings are intended for experienced ski tourers and the guide will only be able to take two, maximum four clients. Depending on the routes, we will have to use ski crampons, a rope, ice axe, crampons and harnesses. Your guide will show you many things, with great skiing and big adventures in sight!

Gear & Équipement

  • If you don’t have your own safety kit, you can rent some or your guide will provide.
  • It’s the same with the technical gear you cold need (harness, crampons..)
  • A 20/30L pack will fit some extra jacket, gloves, some water and snacks, the safety kit.

Physical condition and technical level

We do not offer “mixed group” outings and your guide will be able to adapt the outing and the pace to your fitness level.

Depending on the route you plan to take, your guide may ask you to join a preliminary outing to assess your technical and physical capacities.

Your guide will do a safety breifing before heading out (transceiver check, weather and snow forecast, safety instructions). At any time he might have to adapt the trip regarding the weather or the group shape and abilities.
