A subtle mix of touring and snow boarding!

Even though splitboarding has been around for many years, it’s only been four to five years since its use has really spread, to the delight of snowboarders who love the great outdoors. No more long snowshoe climbs with your ankles twisting on frozen slopes, no more heavy bag with the snowboard on your back… All the board manufacturers have created models and now it’s possible to find high performance boards for the descent for a reasonable weight ratio when climbing. No need to convert to ski touring anymore!

Day and half day outings

For discovery or with experience, we offer tailor-made outings, for all levels, desires, motivation… The Morzine- Avoriaz Guides Office does not offer “mixed group” outings, only private groups. If your group includes skiers, we do not do “splitboard only” days, everyone is welcome, we will adapt the routes!

Where will we go?

Your guide will choose an itinerary suitable for splitboarding. Even if the equipment has changed, the route will take into account the flexibility of the split skis for the ascent or the stopping areas for the descent. Skiing friends will adapt, it’s just a matter of getting used to it!

Equipement et gear

  • You can dress the same as usual. But you’ll be hot on the way up and a extra jacket (down jkt) will be nice once at the summit.
  • A 20/30L backpack will fit some rater, some snacks, safety gear and spare clothes, gloves… And skins and poles on the way down.
  • Don’t worry if you don’t own your own s^lit board kit. Your guide will give you some adress to rent some modern and reliable gar.

Your guide will do a safety breifing before heading out (transceiver check, weather and snow forecast, safety instructions). At any time he might have to adapt the trip regarding the weather or the group shape and abilities.
